Our Story
We just knew there had to be a better way.
Back in 2008, cyber security awareness training was conducted once a year in long, dull sessions. Users circumvented it in any way possible. And thus, human-factor security vulnerabilities and their associated corporate risks were left unaddressed.
Daring to disrupt, we decided to prioritize the human factor. Security Mentor was born and our “Brief, Frequent, and Focused” model revolutionized training – short lessons, delivered monthly, each on a single topic and written by a real security professional. With an emphasis on learning efficacy, Security Mentor lessons quickly set the bar for training to be relevant and interactive, fun, easy-to-digest and sticky.
Trainees loved it. Security teams loved it. Our customers loved it. Today our training is recognized as the most effective training in the industry.

Leadership
Marie E. White
Founder, CEO & President
Dr. Marie White is a respected entrepreneur, business owner and expert in end user security. Since its inception in 2008, Marie has led Security Mentor as its CEO and is integrally involved in the design and development of the Security Mentor Training Platform and security awareness training.
Marie brings over 20 years of information security experience. Prior to Security Mentor, she co-founded PIM Technology, an Information Security and Information Technology Consultancy, which specialized in web application security and development, authentication and authorization, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
Marie holds a Doctor of Philosophy and Masters in Oceanography from Texas A&M University. She’s also an active Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
Craig Kunitani
Founder, COO & CTO
Craig Kunitani is an entrepreneur with over 30 year’s experience in the information security, computer technology, and physical sciences industries. Craig leads Security Mentor operations and engineering.
Prior to co-founding Security Mentor in 2008, he co-founded PIM Technology specifically servicing the United States Navy. He held several technical and research-based positions at organizations including SGI, Cray Research, the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
Craig holds a Masters in Atmospheric Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Bachelors in Statistics from the University of California-Berkeley and an active certification as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
